Staff Wine Picks Tasting! July 22 6-9pm

Come join us once again for an awesome wine tasting this Friday! Here’s what is coming up:

Suzanne’s Pick :

2014 Terra Mea Colline Pescaresi Pecorino – Abruzzo, Italy
Colline Pescaresi (or “hills of Pescara”) lies adjacent to the Adriatic Sea. There, Pecorino and Pinot Grigio grapes are the predominant varietals grown. The wine we have chosen for Friday is 100% Pecorino, which means “little sheep” – this is a more common association with the cheese of the same name that is made from sheep’s milk; a divine pairing that we will be offering to you. This being a natural and uncommon wine, it is difficult to track down much information about the producer, but we can tell you about the general characteristics of the Pecorino grape! This varietal tends to lean towards the acidic side with fresh and bright aromatics yet deep, rich characters of minerals, white pepper and nuts on the palate.
πŸ’š Organically farmed.

Jordan’s Pick:

2015 La Pepiere Cabernet Franc – Loire Valley, France
Marc Ollivier of Domaine de la Pepiere has been farming minimally and naturally ever since he experienced much success with natural fermentation and little to no SO2 additions. He found that allowing his wines to speak for themselves and celebrating that led to far more complexity, depth and character. Man, are we glad he did because this Cab Franc is just as individual and interesting as any other excellent natural wine we have come across. The body is medium, as to be expected from this grape, and therefore can be served with a slight chill as well as room temperature. The aromas are warm and savory with hints of earth and tobacco while the palate expresses lovely tart and bright sour cherry and a slight saltiness along with supple tannin and minerals. Minimal intervention, natural fermentation
Regular price: $15
6 bottles: $13.50
In a mixed case: $12.75
Full case: $12

Kaia’s Pick:

2014 Fattoria Rodano Poggialupi – Tuscany, Italy
This blend of Sangiovese and Merlot and long been a staple in our Tuscan wine selection due to it’s excellent value. It is for lovers of Chianti Classico who don’t want to break the bank every time. This yummy red has no rough edges, smooth red fruits and impressive brightness and succulence. There are aromas of roses and licorice and flavors of supple cherry, dark plum, gingerbread and spice. Soft, round and PERFECT with bold classic Italian dishes.
πŸ’š Organic. Natural yeast fermentation.
